1. How often do you wash a cushion?

Do not wait for the cushion to look dirty to wash it! Daily, perfume, perspiration and dust leave them little respite freshness and hygiene. Ideally, we should wash our cushion covers 3 to 4 times a year!

Between two washes, maintain your cushions with a regular vacuum, tapping them at the window to air them and spraying a little water with lavender, tea tree essential oil or of eucalyptus, anti-mites!

If you have any doubt about the product or stain remover to use, apply it on a small hidden surface and test with a little product on a cotton swab!

for a suede cushion: already think to erase the stain, with a white eraser (or breadcrumbs!), then put a little talc or Terre de Sommières on it. Leave it all night and then suck! For a superficial trace, use a special suede crepe brush.

for a velvet cushion: brush it regularly with a soft textile brush. If stained, mix warm water and soap, then rub gently with a microfiber cloth. Then dry. If this is not enough, ammonia is a very good cleanser for velvet.

for outdoor cushions: a little soap in water is often enough, and for the most stubborn stains, baking soda will be very effective. To know: the shaving foam is quite effective against small spots! Rinse well.

5. How to wash a cushion, not just a cover?

Wash your cushion at least 2 times a year. Synthetic, it will pass without worry to the machine (do not hesitate to replace your usual laundry with ¼ cup of white vinegar). If it is:

in feathers: let it soak for a whole day in a basin of cold water, with the juice of a lemon and coarse salt. Rinse well and allow to dry. Beat the cushion regularly to take off the feathers.

Latex: Let it soak overnight in cold water, with half a cup of vinegar. Rinse and let it air dry.

fabric and microfiber: put in a basin 1 liter of hot water and pour in the juice of half a lemon (which disinfects) and 1 tablespoon of baking soda (which dissolves the tasks ).Soak, rinse and dry!
